Inclusion and Ofsted’s 2025 Framework

Literacy Gold improves reading, comprehension, and spelling, and includes a dyslexia screener to help you meet Ofsted's inclusion priorities.

Under the new "Inclusion" evaluation area, inspectors will look for:

  • Evidence that all learners can access and succeed in the curriculum.
  • Clear tracking of the impact of interventions.
  • Staff's understanding of pupil needs and how these are met in practice.

By embedding Literacy Gold within your inclusion strategy, your school can provide clear evidence that these inspection priorities are being met.

Equity of access for all learners

Literacy Gold programmes can be implemented across year groups to ensure that every child—regardless of their starting point—has access to high-quality reading support.

Track and show impact

Literacy Gold's assessments and placement tests establish a clear starting point for each pupil. Progress can be tracked at half-termly intervals using Literacy Gold’s inbuilt assessments. SENCOs and class teachers can review data jointly to ensure interventions are accelerating progress, not just maintaining it. Staff can also track each pupil's incremental progress in their daily lessons, which are recorded on the teacher dashboard. Pupils who make accelerated progress can be reintegrated into whole-class instruction with support strategies and understanding gained from Literacy Gold's assessments.

Staff awareness of pupils' barriers to learning

Literacy Gold's dyslexia screener and training sessions support staff in identifying barriers to learning. Staff have the opportunity to learn how to interpret results from the dyslexia screener and track pupils' progress in their daily lessons. This helps them to identify phonological awareness issues, phonics and morphology gaps, vocabulary needs, language processing and working memory difficulties. These areas can then be addressed through further Literacy Gold targeted activities. Disadvantaged, EAL and FSM pupils’ access to Literacy Gold can easily be monitored to ensure consistent participation and progress.
